Klausenpass | 1952 METER | Altdorf Glarus

Around 40 bends and hairpin turns lead over the Klausen Pass. This Alpine pass promises plenty of driving fun. What's more, the bends are very varied. Some are sharp and steep, others sweeping and flat. The top of the pass, on the other hand, lies in a long high valley and can be reached via a long straight section – from both ramps. There are restaurants and cafés at the top of the pass.

The eastern ramp, which begins in the town of Glarus, is somewhat more exciting than the western ramp, which begins in Altdorf. Overall, this Alpine pass can be easily mastered with normal driving skills thanks to its wide road and good asphalt. There are parking bays on the eastern ramp, slightly below the top of the pass (see picture). Stop and enjoy the breathtaking view.

The continuously asphalted road is closed from November to May.

Tip: In combination with the Sankt Gotthard Pass (perhaps even Tremola) and Nufenen Pass, you can create a great tour towards Valais. Add the Grimsel Pass, the Oberaar Panoramic Road and the Furka Pass to create a beautiful round trip.
