Sankt Gotthardpass | 2106 METER | Andermatt Airolo

At a distance of around 30 kilometres and with a maximum incline of 11.4%, the St. Gotthard Pass connects the towns of Andermatt in the Urseren valley in the canton of Uri and Airolo in the Leventina valley in the canton of Ticino. Its summit is 2106 metres above sea level. Until the Gotthard tunnel was built, the pass was one of the most important north-south routes across the Alps.
In addition to the Gotthard tunnel and the newly built pass road, there is still the old pass road. A winding route, most of which is cobbled and grit. It branches off at the pass summit and leads down along the lake and the original pass station. The southern part is challenging to drive and is sure to be endless fun for the experienced driver. Note: the pass is not always open due to weather conditions.
