Col de la Croix (Waadt) | 1778 METER | Bex Les Diablerets

The Col de la Croix is an Alpine pass in the Swiss canton of Vaud, above the Rhône Valley. The road over the Col de la Croix is wide and well-maintained. The bends are sweeping and the gradient is moderate. All in all, it is an Alpine pass that is ideal for cruising and relaxing. On the north side, there are a total of four hairpin bends, which are also wide and sweeping.

There are three different routes on the south-western ramp, all of which converge in Villars-sur-Ollon. According to the name, this is where the official ramp begins. In fact, however, you already start climbing from the Rhône Valley towards the Col de la Croix Alpine pass. The routes start in Bex (east), Ollon (west) and, in between, there is also a route that leads up – as a tip – past a small wine-growing area with almost 1000 years of tradition, the Abbaye-de-Salaz. These sections of the route are all a little more winding.

Driving pleasure only comes with good weather. The view, on the other hand, is wonderful. Photo: North side, below the pass summit.

Continuing northwards, the route takes you over the Col de Pillon, the Saanenmöser and then, past Lake Thun, the unique Susten Pass with its ‘stone ramp’ in the west.

South of the Rhône Valley, there are several options for planning a motorbike tour further south, from the ‘Great Saint Bernard’ in the east to the classic ‘Route des Grandes Alpes’ in the west.
