Passo Tanarello | 2045 METER | Molini di Triora Monesi di Triora

The Passo Tanarello is part of the ‘High Salt Road’, as it is officially called in the local language. It is located approximately in the middle of the approximately 30-kilometre-long route along the Alpine ridge between Italy and France.
This is where the sections coming from Molini di Triora (or Dolceaqua) or Monesi di Triora meet. The route from Monesi di Triora is mainly gravelled, but it is also suitable for off-road beginners if the weather conditions are right.
The route from Realdo, on the other hand, has some very roughly gravelled sections, narrow sections and stair-like inclines caused by broken asphalt. The latter are mainly found just below the alpine pass where the route crosses the Col de la Larieé. However, this is not identifiable as an alpine pass.
The section from Molini di Triora, like the section from Monesi di Triora, is toll-free.
Tip: a little way below, to the south, is the eastern approach from Monesi di Triora to Monte Saccarello. The ascent to the highest mountain in Liguria is about 2 kilometres long and rewards you with a magnificent view. The road ends at a car park with a chapel and a large statue that can be seen from afar.
