Passo Muazz | 1696 METER | Lago di Luzzone Lago di Luzzone
The Passo Muazz is a 1,696-metre-high Alpine pass in Ticino, Switzerland. It can be reached via Lago di Luzzano, which is also signposted as an Alpine pass or cul-de-sac. Lago di Luzzano is about 3 kilometres away, situated 80 metres lower in altitude. The road to Passo Muazz runs through a tunnel in the dam wall of Lago di Luzzano – not to be confused with the road over the dam wall itself. This is followed by a series of spectacular hairpin bends. The road is extremely steep, single-lane, with tight bends and a drop-off at the edge. Above these bends, the route passes through another single-lane, low-clearance tunnel – controlled by traffic lights. On the other side of the tunnel, a high plateau opens up. From here, the route is rough gravel and leads past cow pastures – several fences need to be removed – to another lake with a dam. Here, at Lago di Carassina, you reach the top of the pass. Some enduro experience is advisable, but the route is well worth it.
Tip: There’s a café at the far end of the small lake. The route is well worth it, as a stunning view awaits.
