Panoramica del Passo di Guspessa | 1812 METER | Passo del Mortirolo Galleno
The Panoramica del Passo di Guspessa is not an Alpine pass. It is a connecting route between the Passo del Mortirolo and the village of Galleno in the Valle di Córtena, from where the route to the Passo di Guspessa branches off. The Panoramica del Passo di Guspessa runs for around 14 kilometres at an average altitude of 1,800 metres along the Valtellina Valley – on the western side of the ridge. On the eastern side of the ridge, roughly from the turn-off to the Passo di Guspessa, the road winds down through a series of hairpin bends to the village of Galleno, which lies 800 metres lower down.
The road is narrow, in places almost single-lane, and poorly paved. The tarmac is also in poor condition. Cautious driving is therefore advisable. This is, in any case, the best way to enjoy the breathtaking scenery on both sides of the ridge.
The climb on the eastern side, above the village of Galleno, is steep, narrow and features 13 hairpin bends.
Tip: Anyone looking to combine bends, light traffic and fantastic views will love this route.
