Monte Ceneri | 554 METER | Cadenazzo Monteceneri
Monte Ceneri is located on Lake Lugano and runs relatively parallel to the motorway to and from Chiasso, the border with Italy. On the south side of the Alpine pass, there is also a signposted exit from the motorway. If you are coming from the north via the motorway (from the Alpine passes of Sankt Gotthard and San Bernardino), you will already have passed the Alpine pass – take the Locarno exit towards Cadenazzo to reach the northern ramp.
Monte Ceneri is a nice change from the motorway. The northern ramp has a few bends but is wide and therefore has a lot of traffic. In some places, there are good views of the northern part of Lake Lugano and Locarno.
The southern ramp is hardly worth mentioning.
Tip: If you are already travelling south on the federal highway, you can easily combine Monte Ceneri with the Passo Arosio, which begins a few kilometres further south in Gravesano (keep towards Arosio).
