Julierpass | 2284 METER | Albula Silvaplana

The Julier Pass is an Alpine pass in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland. At a crest height of 2,284 metres above sea level, it connects the Oberhalbstein and Engadin valleys. The pass, which is now developed and open all year round, is part of the main road 3 and overcomes a height difference of 1433 metres, with a maximum gradient of just under 12%. The carriageway is consistently wider than 5 metres and easy to drive on.

On the north side, in the village of Albula, a road branches off towards the Albula Pass, which then runs relatively parallel to the Engadin Valley. On the south side, continuing southwards along the Engadin Valley, you reach the Maloja Pass.
The Engadin Valley is the widest and perhaps the highest valley in Switzerland. It enjoys considerably more hours of sunshine than other areas. Also interesting are the three lakes in the high valley, all fed by the Inn, which rises above them.
