Malojapass | 1815 METER | Maloja Vicosoprano

The Maloja Pass is a Swiss Alpine pass situated at 1,815 metres (5,919 feet) above sea level and connects the Bergell – a valley – with the Engadine near Silvaplana, both in the canton of Graubünden. The pass road is part of the main road 3 and is open all year round, except for short-term closures after heavy snowfalls. It was asphalted in 1934 and extensively modernised in 1957.
The special thing about the pass is that it only goes down into the Engadine valley, as the Engadine is already at an altitude of about 1800 metres. Tip: at the Maloja Pass, in the village of Maloja, there is a car park that offers a magnificent view of the Bergell valley. The source of the Inn river is to the right and above the Bergell. The village of Vicosoprano is located below the Maloja Pass – an interesting medieval village with a suitable and worthwhile museum.
