Göscheneralp | 1792 METER | Göschenen Göscheneralpsee

The Göscheneralp is a picturesque high valley in the canton of Uri (Central Switzerland) accessible via a side road. It lies at the foot of the Uri granite giants and the Damma Glacier. It is best known for its spectacular reservoir and its rugged alpine landscape.

It can be reached from the village of Göschenen via a 10-kilometre-long, well-maintained tarmac road. However, the road is narrow in places, though there are regular passing bays. The surrounding countryside is charming, winding its way through gorges and following the rushing, roaring Göschenerreuss for several kilometres.

At the top of the reservoir, right on the crest of the dam, there are paid car parks and the Dammagletscher mountain inn.
The drive up to Göscheneralp is only possible during the summer months.

Tip: Best combined with the Susten Pass and the St Gotthard Pass for a lovely motorbike tour.
