The Col du Pilon is the southernmost and lowest of the Alpine passes along the Route Napoléon. It is a straight stretch of road and is therefore easy and quick to drive along. A distinctive feature are the road signs showing the towns at the start and end of the Route Napoléon.
A genuine pass sign can only be seen along the northbound carriageway. Here, the direction of travel is shown as southbound.
