Col de la Perle | 2086 METER | Colle di Tenda Col de la Boaria
The Col de la Perle or Colle di Perla Alpine pass is part of the ‘Ligurian Border Road’ (High Salt Road), which winds its way through the southern Alps between Italy and France.
It lies between Colle di Tenda and Col de la Boaria, not far from the famous Tornante della Boaria. Like the entire route, it is covered with gravel throughout.
The north-eastern section, between the toll booth and the Alpine pass, is steep in places and has some tight bends.
At the top of the Col de la Perle, a small road branches off to one of the many forts in this region, Fort Pepin. However, the fort is largely in ruins. Nevertheless, the view down towards the Mediterranean is magnificent.
The ‘Ligurian border ridge’ or ‘High Salt Road’ is a toll road that is only open to motorised vehicles on certain days of the week. More information on prices, opening hours and more can be found here ...
