Präbichl | 1226 METER | Vordernberg Eisenerz

Präbichl is a mountain pass in Upper Styria, Austria, with an altitude of 1,226 metres, separating the Eisenerz Alps from the Hochschwab range. The pass connects the valleys of the Erzbach and the Vordernbergerbach. The Austrian Iron Road runs through both valleys. From the top of the pass, there is a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains, and from the northern access ramp, of the striking mining levels of the Erzberg. The Erzberg railway, which used to connect the Erzberg with the smelting works in Leoben-Donawitz, also runs over the pass. Today, the line is operated as a museum railway.
