Passo San Boldo | 706 METER | Tovena Trichiana

The San Boldo Pass is located in the southern foothills of the Alps in the Veneto region – just a few kilometres from the border with Friuli-Venezia Giulia. It connects the two towns of Tovena in the south and Trichiana in the north. The pass is just over 700 metres high, but is known for its San Boldo Pass Gallery, just below the village of the same name on the southern side. The passage has seven hairpin bends in quick succession, five of which are in so-called helical tunnels. The rock face is extremely steep at this point.
Like so many mountain passes in the Alps, this road was also built during the First World War.
Since then, the speed limit has been reduced to 30 km/h and a height restriction of three metres has been introduced.
