Monte Tomba | 868 METER | Alano di Piave Cavaso del Tomba

Monte Tomba (868 metres) is an extremely charming, historic mountain with stunning views in the Venetian Pre-Alps, situated in the province of Treviso, right next to the mighty Monte Grappa.

The great thing about Monte Tomba is that the roads are fully tarmac-surfaced all the way up to the summit ridge. The roads are narrow – typical of Venetian side roads – but a real treat to ride.

The classic southern ascent (from Cavaso del Tomba): it’s smooth but quite a challenge to ride, though the tarmac is generally in good condition.

From Cavaso, the road winds its way uphill at a brisk pace through dense forests and past small hamlets in wide bends. The gradient is never extreme, however. The bends can be taken very smoothly and quickly on a motorbike.

The panoramic route (from Monte Grappa | Alano di Piave): it is narrower and always offers beautiful, almost picturesque views.

Monte Tomba is directly connected to the foothills of the Monte Grappa massif via the Monfenera ridge.

This ridge road, the Strada del Monte Tomba, is a driver’s dream: you ride along a ridge, with views stretching deep into the Piave Valley or the Venetian Plain to the left and right. The road is quite narrow and undulating in places – but the ride is rewarded with a spectacular panorama.

Tip – The 360° panorama: As Monte Tomba stands like a bastion right on the edge of the plain, from the top you have a phenomenal view southwards over the hills of the Prosecco region (Asolo | Valdobbiadene) and far into the plain. To the north, you look directly out onto the rugged cliffs of Monte Grappa.

Extra tip – the osteria culture: Right on the pass ridge, there are rustic, traditional places to stop for a bite to eat (such as Trattoria Da Bepo or Malga Doc). This is where local cyclists meet at the weekend for an espresso or a traditional panino with alpine cheese and salami.
