Kreuzbergsattel | 1074 METER | Greifenburg Weißbriach

The Kreuzbergsattel is a 1074-metre-high Alpine pass in the Gailtal Alps that runs through Upper Carinthia from north to south. A federal road runs over the saddle, connecting the upper Drau Valley with the parallel Gail Valley via the Gitschtal. Due to its low altitude of only 500 metres above the two valley floors, the route also has historical significance. To distinguish it from the South Tyrolean Kreuzberg Pass (or Sexten Kreuzberg), the pass is also called the ‘Carinthian Kreuzberg’.

It is not particularly challenging to drive. To the north, the road branches off to a Carinthian attraction that should be included in any tour in the region: the Weißensee with its drinking water-pure water.
