Forcella di Lius | 1070 METER | Paluzza Paularo
A well-developed, well-paved and, most importantly, little-travelled pass that has also played a role in the Giro d'Italia. Coming from the west, the pass climbs gently. Just before the small picturesque village of Ligusollo, the driving pleasure begins with some sharp and narrow curves. Again and again, there are opportunities to see down into the valley and onto the mountain ranges of the Carnic Alps.
The official location of the Forcella di Lius is unspectacular and not yet the highest point of the route towards Paularo. About 800 metres further on, the Passo Duron appears unexpectedly because it is completely unknown.
On the eastern side, there are some beautiful and winding sections. This route can be combined with the Plöckenpass in the west (if it is ever passable again, as of April 2024) and with the Lanzenpass or Passo del Cason di Lanza, which climbs from Paularo.
