Albulapass | 2312 METER | Surava La Punt-Chamues

The Albula Pass is a 2312-metre-high mountain pass in the Swiss canton of Graubünden that connects the Albula Valley near Tiefencastel with the Engadine near La Punt. The road over the pass, which has now been properly developed, can be closed in winter due to the risk of avalanches.

At an altitude of about 1800 metres, it is undercut by the impressive 5865-metre-long Albula Tunnel. The tunnel is reserved for the railway, which repeatedly dominates the western approach and exit of the landscape. It is bound to be a fascinating sight for model railway fans.

In the west, there are some overpasses with height restrictions of 3.30 metres.

Also in the west: the Albula fortress, which can be visited on limited days.

The SnapShortFilm team travelled over the Albula Pass as part of the TV documentary ‘Alpen-Marathon – Sankt Moritz and the Upper Engadine’ and documented the journey. The report is also available to view online at: Alpen-Marathon, Sankt Moritz and the Upper Engadine – from the highest passes to Lake Como.
