Briançon and back – 9 Alpine passes, 280 kilometres and fantastic views.

This motorcycle tour begins and ends in Briançon, a small town steeped in history located at the southern end of Serre Chevalier. From Briançon, the tour heads north to the first and last Alpine pass, the Col du Lautaret, making it a classic round trip.

 

 

Tip for overnight stays: On the way from Briançon to Col du Lautaret, there are several nice little villages with good infrastructure that are also suitable as starting and finishing points. Some of the hotels and restaurants here are cheaper than in touristy Briançon. Particularly charming is La Salle les Alpes, which offers several restaurants and bars away from the main road within a short distance.

With 10 Alpine passes and around 280 kilometres to cover, this motorcycle tour is a day-long challenge that includes some tight combinations of bends and narrow high-altitude sections. What makes this circuit special is that, in addition to classics such as the Col du Glandon, Col de la Croix de Fer and Col du Galibier, it takes you over some lesser-known Alpine passes, such as the Col du Sapey, Pas de la Confession and Route de la Roche d'Auris – away from the main roads, so you can expect very little traffic under normal circumstances.
