Tremalzopass | 1830 METER | Vésio Val d'
A mountain road in northern Italy built for strategic purposes during the First World War leads to the Tremalzo Pass. The pass is located on the border between the autonomous province of Trento and the province of Brescia, not far from Lake Garda. The southern flank is part of the Parco Alto Garda bresciano nature park. The pass was built to supply military installations and positions during the so-called mountain war of the First World War. What all Alpine military roads have in common is that the suitability for transporting heavy artillery required a good surface. On the southern flank, this has resulted in a partially good and passable condition to this day, despite poor maintenance.
