Sellajoch | 2240 METER | Canazei Wolkenstein

The Sella Pass is a 2,240-metre-high Alpine pass in Italy, more precisely in the Dolomites. It connects Val Gardena near Selva in South Tyrol with the Fassa Valley near Canazei in Trentino. As its name suggests, the Sella Pass is part of the well-known and popular Sella Ronda (Sellaronda) in the Dolomites, which officially consists of four Alpine passes, but actually consists of five. The Passo Pordoi (Pordoijoch, 2239 m), the Passo Campolongo (Campolongosattel, 1875 m), the Passo di Gardena (Grödnerjoch), the additional, unofficially named Sella del Culac (2018 m) and, of course, the Passo di Sella (Sellajoch, 2240 m).
There is also some debate about the altitude. The actual Sella Pass is slightly off the road. It is officially 2,240 metres high. The altitude of the paved summit is slightly lower, at 2,214 metres. However, we refer to the information on the pass sign, which indicates 2,240 metres.

The southern ramp is winding, with very different radii, which can make for a lot of driving fun. Since the Sella Ronda is now on every touring driver's bucket list, there is a lot of traffic. This is always the case on weekends, but also during holiday periods and on particularly beautiful days. However, if you catch a quieter day – perhaps in the early or late season – the Alpine pass and the Sella Ronda offer a lot of driving pleasure.
