Penser Joch | 2234 METER | Sterzing Bozen

The Penser Joch is a mountain pass in South Tyrol in northern Italy. At 2,211 metres above sea level, it connects the Sarntal Valley with the Wipptal Valley near Sterzing. The pass forms the direct connection between Innsbruck and Bolzano as the crow flies. It also marks the boundary between the municipalities of Sarntal and Freienfeld. Although it has been and continues to be expanded in recent years, the route is narrow and blind in some places. The pass is closed to traffic in winter from around 1600 metres above sea level, depending on snow conditions, from mid-December to the end of March.
