Passo di Vézzena | 1414 METER | Asiago Lavarone

The Passo di Vézzena is a 1417-metre-high mountain pass on the border of the Italian provinces of Trentino and Vicenza on the Luserna plateau. The pass road, Strada Statale SS 349 or SP 349, leads from Lavarone via the pass summit at Rifugio Vezzena to Asiago. The actual pass summit is more of a plateau than a pronounced pass, and there are only a few bends to negotiate along the entire route from Lavarone to Asiago. At the pass summit, the Erzherzog-Eugen-Straße leads north, a former military road that is closed to motor vehicles. The Strada Provinciale SP 9 leads south to Luserna. The Kaiserjägerstraße begins about 2 km west of the pass summit on the SS 349. Near the top of the pass are former Austrian fortifications: to the north, Fort Verle and, near Cima Vezzena, Fort Vezzena; to the south, Fort Lusern. The Italian ‘counterparts’ further east, Forte Monte Verena and Forte Campolongo, are easier to reach from the direction of Asiago.
