Passo di Valles | 1932 METER | Mauls Passo di Valles

The Passo di Valles, also known as the Valler Jöchl, is a side road that does not lead all the way up to the top of the pass. The road – or rather, the route – ends below the summit; the upper section is gravel-surfaced, and access to the final stretch is now restricted to authorised vehicles only.
Nevertheless, the route up to that point is absolutely charming, winding, featuring some tight hairpin bends in places, and very quiet. What’s more, there are fantastic views down into the valley. The gravel section is easy to drive on. 
So, if you’re near Sterzing and have an hour to spare, it’s well worth taking a detour.
By the way: the Passo di Valles is often confused with the Passo Valles, which lies in the Dolomites and marks the border between Veneto and Trentino.
