Passo di Dordona | 2063 METER | Fusine Foppolo
The Passo di Dordona alpine pass can only be reached via a gravel road, which is very rough in places and covered with boulders.
The ascent from Foppolo, the southern passage, is relatively short at just under 5 kilometres, but is very gravelly and has some sections with gradients of up to 18 percent. The northern ramp is less demanding, offers many attractive high alpine views and leads through forest for long stretches.
Shortly after the pass summit is the Rifugio Dordona – a detour is worthwhile. Also interesting: at the top of the pass are the remains of a fortress and brick trenches from the First World War, known as the ‘Tricee della Linea Cadorna’.
Important: To drive on the route over the Alpine pass, you have to pay a toll, or more correctly, a special permit. This is best obtained from the municipal administration of the villages mentioned.
