Passo del Maniva | 1664 METER | Bagolino Collio
The Passo del Maniva is one of the Alpine passes that few touring cyclists include in their itineraries. The same goes for the entire area above Lake Idro and around the picturesque mountain village of Bagolino. The Passo del Maniva is one of the most beautiful Alpine passes in Italy, and perhaps the most beautiful in Lombardy – although this always depends on your personal preferences. The road is narrow, poorly paved and winding, as is typical for the entire region. The view of the Lombardy mountain region is impressive, but the highlight is the 40 hairpin bends – depending on how you count them – that lead from Bagolino in the east to Collio in the west.
Tip: Stay overnight in Bagolino – the small hotels are very charming and the food is excellent. Bagolino is located on a mountainside high above Val Cafforo and offers truly breathtaking views.
A tour via the Passo di Croce Domini, located a little further north, is also highly recommended.
