Pas de la Fosse | 822 METER | Chambéry Col du Granier

The Pas de la Fosse, or rather the Pas de la Fosse tunnel, is the northern ‘entry point’ coming from Chambery, into the Alpine Passes Road over the Chartreuse massif. A series of Alpine passes follow down to Grenoble. The entire route is very scenic.
The Pas de la Fosse is not passable. A barrier and a prohibition sign (‘Danger of death’) stop the ascent to the Pas de la Fosse in the upper third of the route.
The Chartreuse massif is a pre-Alpine limestone mountain range.
