Nigerpass | 1690 METER | Karerseestraße Abzweigung Tiers

The Niger Pass is a 1690-metre-high Alpine pass in the Dolomites. It connects the Tiers Valley with the Karer Pass Road. The turnoff is between Lake Karer and the Karer Pass. This route leads along the ‘Rosengarten’ – a particularly shaped and spectacular-looking mountain group in the Dolomites. There are also some lovely views of the valley towards Bolzano (west) and of the Latemar group above Lake Carezza (Karersee) to the east. From the turn-off at the Carezza Pass road to the Nigra Pass, the road is relatively flat with wide curves. The descent or ascent from the Etschtal valley then has some tighter bends. The maximum gradient on this well-built and less-travelled road is 14 per cent. The pass is open all year round.
