Monte Bondone | 1650 METER | Lagolo Candriai
Monte Bondone is the striking local mountain of Trento – a mountain range comprising several distinct peaks, known as the “Tre Cime del Monte Bondone”. Nevertheless, there is a Passo Monte Bondone, at an altitude of 1,650 metres. It is situated in the winter sports resort of Vason. However, the highest point of this pass road, referred to as a mountain pass, lies well below the true Monte Bondone.
Its northern approach is very winding; in fact, it was once part of a now legendary hill climb race starting from Trento. The race route was 17 kilometres long and featured 40 numbered bends, which is why it should still be included in any tour planning in the region today. The elevation gain of 1,450 metres is even more impressive. The central section of the route passes through dense beech and coniferous forests.
The southern approach, by contrast, is unspectacular and a relaxed ride.
