Hangendensteinpass | 462 METER | St. Leonhard Marktschellenberg
The Hangendenstein Pass is another route into the Berchtesgadener Land region. Alongside the Hallthurm Pass, which leads from Germany into this valley, the Hangendenstein Pass connects to neighbouring Austria, specifically Salzburg. It is a good 200 metres lower than the Hallthurm Pass.
Here, too, it is the history that makes this Alpine pass interesting, not its route. At the top of the pass, for example, stands the old customs house that marks the German-Austrian border.
