Grosse Scheidegg | 1962 METER | Grindelwald Meiringen

The Grosse Scheidegg is an Alpine pass linking Grindelwald in the Black Lütschiner Valley with Meiringen in the Hasli Valley. The pass summit lies at 1,962 metres below the Wetterhorn. On the northern side, the ridge rises to the Schwarzhorn. A continuous road link across the pass has been in place since 1979. There is a regular service operated by the Grindelwald bus between Schwarzwaldalp and the upper Grindelwald Glacier. Private motor vehicle access is restricted to residents and hotel guests with a permit. In contrast to the Kleine Scheidegg, the Grosse Scheidegg is lower in altitude, less developed and less frequented.
The Grosse Scheidegg is closed to regular motorised traffic.
