The Gerlos Pass, also known as the Pinzgauer Höhe, is the pass summit of the old road connection from the Salzburg Oberpinzgau region to the Tyrolean Zillertal. The pass summit is located at 1531 metres. The old pass road leads from the municipality of Wald im Pinzgau to the town of Gerlos in the Zillertal. It is closed to carriages and lorries and is not always passable in winter. The new pass road connects the towns of Krimml and Gerlos and was built in the 1960s by the Großglockner Hochalpenstraßen AG. The road is open to traffic all year round without restriction. A toll is charged for crossing the pass in a motor vehicle.
