Furkelsattel | 1789 METER | Olang St. Vigil

The Furkelpass is a 1789-metre-high mountain pass in the Dolomites, in the Italian province of South Tyrol. The pass lies between the 2275-metre-high Kronplatz to the north and the 2507-metre-high Piz da Peres to the south and connects the villages of Olang in the Puster Valley and St. Vigil in Enneberg. The pass road is 19 kilometres long with an average gradient of 12% to 15%. The pass is open in winter. Since 2003, there has also been an artificial lake at the top of the pass, which is needed to produce artificial snow for the nearby ski resorts.
