The Colletto di Valmala alpine pass is the first of eight alpine passes that lie along an off-road route coming from the east, the Varaita-Maira-Kammstraße VMKS, or Strada dei Cannoni. The route begins in the village of Molino Varaita and ends at the Colle della Bicocca. There, this former military road turns into a footpath – no longer suitable for motorcycles.
