Colle Valcavera | 2421 METER | Via Val d'Arma Colle Valcavera
The Colle Valvavera is the south-eastern beginning of the Maira-Stura ridge road. The Maira-Stura ridge road, or MSKS, is part of the high route between France and Italy – it was used from the First World War as a protection against attack. Along the way, there are many fortifications. In the south-eastern extension of this mountain ridge is the LGKS, the Ligurian Border Ridge Road.
The MSKS is gravelled throughout, and can be driven on the first section with a little experience, but the further you go, the more difficult the route becomes.
Please check the conditions for driveability from season to season. The MSKS is closed on weekends and public holidays during the summer months.
The photo shows the turnoff from the main road (Via Val d'Arma) to Colle Fauniera. Colle Valcavera is located at the bend after the turnoff.
