Colle Fauniera | 2481 METER | Demonte Caraglio

Colle Fauniera is a 2481-metre-high Alpine pass in the province of Cuneo in the Italian region of Piedmont. The pass road runs in a U-shape from Caraglia to the northeast, over the pass and to Demonte to the southeast, through the Vallone dell' Arma, a side valley of the Valle Stura. The pass road is paved throughout, but in some places it is only a single lane. It leads through a lonely, scenic mountain world, especially in the upper part of the southwestern ramp. In the area of the pass summit, a little north of the pass road, there are further pass summits, the Colle d'Esischie, Colle del Vallonetto and, of course, the Colle Fauniera.
Note: If you drive off the Colle Fauniera in a southwesterly direction, towards Demonte, there is a short, winding and somewhat steep gravel road.
From the Colle Fauniera, a little above the Rifugio Fauniera, the road branches off over the Coll d'Esischie and leads down to Ponte Marmora.
The Maira-Stura border ridge road also branches off here, from the view of the ramp of Demonte (southwest), just below the Colle Fauniera. First pass: Colle Valcavera – gravel.
