Colle d'Esischie | 2370 METER | Ponte Marmora Caraglio

The Colle d'Esischie is a pass in southern Piedmont that runs parallel to the Meira-Stura ridge road and is paved throughout, albeit poorly. Coming from the north, it is the first and lowest of three passes that lead south down to Demonte. After that, the Colle del Valonetto and then the Colle Fauniera follow.

Immediately after the Colle d'Esischie, the road branches off to the east. Here it descends to the Rifugio Fauniera and then on via Chiappi (POI tip: Sanctuary of San Magno) to Caraglio.

The route length here is given from Ponte Marmora directly to Caraglio. The two Alpine passes Colle del Valonetto and Colle Fauniera are not on this route but are only 1 kilometre to the south. If you want to take the tour over all three Alpine passes, you have to descend towards Demonte (length: 46 kilometres). On this route, there is a short but winding gravel section above Demonte (for the descent only, single lane).

The ramp from Marmora towards the top of the pass is in poor condition. (As of June 2024)
