Colle della Ranzola | 2169 METER | Brusson Estoul

This is an example of a mountain pass whose construction ran out of funds. Originally, the plan was to connect Brusson in Val d'Ayas with Gressoney-Saint-Jean in Val Gressoney. So far, however, only the western ramp leading to the ski resort of Estoul has been built. From there, the road continues for another 2 km eastwards on a gravel track, although the pass summit is about 90 metres higher. The ascent is nevertheless worthwhile and passes small hamlets and magnificent alpine pastures. On the way back, there is even a view of Mont Blanc.
