Colle de Vallonetto | 2447 METER | Ponte Marmora Demonte

Within 2 kilometres, there are three official Alpine passes. Coming from the north, from Ponte Marmora, the first is the Colle d'Esischie, the second the Colle de Vallonetto and the third the Colle Fauniera or Colle dei Morti. All three are about the same height. This more or less well-surfaced road runs parallel to the Meira-Stura border ridge, which branches off to the west just below Colle Fauniera and merges directly into Colle Valcavera.

The Colle del Vallonetto is not really recognisable as an alpine pass with a summit. It is located on the route from Caraglio or Ponte Marmora towards Colle Fauniera. Only a parking bay indicates the alpine pass. Presumably there used to be a path down here that no longer exists.

Note: The route is asphalted, although in some places it is poor quality and has many extreme bumps. On the south ramp towards Demonte, there is also a short, winding, single-lane gravel road, less than a kilometre long – for the descent only. Therefore, the Alpine pass is marked as ‘asphalt’.
