Colla di Casotto | 1379 METER | Pamparato Garessio

The Colla del Casotto is one of many small and unknown Alpine passes in the border region between Piedmont in the north and Liguria in the south. The road is reasonably well paved and only a little winding on the eastern slope. On the north-western side of the Alpine pass lies the ‘Castello Reale di Casotto’. This unique building alone makes the Colla di Casotto worth including in any tour of the Ligurian hinterland, or Piedmont in this case. More precisely, the building is located in the Cuneo region (Piedmont). The castle was originally a Carthusian monastery from the 12th century and was then expanded into a castle in the 18th century. A magnificent building in the midst of a beautiful natural landscape – well worth a visit.
