The well-maintained and quiet road over the Col du Mollard, situated on the edge of a plateau, connects the village of Villargondran on the southern edge of St.-Jean-de-Maurienne with Belleville. The pass summit of the Col du Mollard lies at 1638 metres on the edge of a plateau around Albiez, which, with its Alpine pastures and traditional houses, is reminiscent of the Allgäu region of Germany.
