Col des Mosses | 1445 METER | Aigle Château-d’Œx

The Col des Mosses on the main road 11 is a pass at an altitude of 1445 metres in the Swiss canton of Vaud in the Vaud Pre-Alps, where the resort of Les Mosses is located. The pass road, which is quite significant in the region, connects the Rhone Valley near Aigle with the Pays d'Enhaut near Château-d'Œx. The connection is also frequently used outside the region to get from the Bernese Oberland to the Lower Valais. The road over the Col des Mosses was built in 1868. The wide pass summit separates Mont d'Or in the west from Pic Chaussy in the east. The resort of Les Mosses, which belongs to the municipality of Ormont-Dessous, has developed over time on the marshy heights of the pass. In winter, the resort is very popular due to the numerous ski lifts on the eastern slope of Mont d'Or; in summer, it is an ideal starting point for hikes.
