Col de la Lombarde | 2340 METER | Isola Vinadio
The Col de la Lariée is part of the Ligurian border ridge road. More information will follow in 7/2024.
The Col de la Lombarde is a road pass in the Haute-Alpes that is open during the summer months. The pass has an altitude of 2350 metres and marks the border between the French department of Haute Alpes de Provence and the Italian region of Piemont. On the Italian side, the pass is challenging to drive. The roads are narrow, almost single-lane in places, and extremely winding. Above the tree line, you then drive a few kilometres along a ridge or high plateau before reaching the French border. However, the route is also very diverse and is endless fun. Fun that can be spoiled by countless cyclists, especially at weekends. Then you have to be very careful.
On the French side is the ski resort of Isola 2000. Up to there, the road is pleasant to drive. The road between Isola 2000 and the original town of Isola, located just below to the south, has been well expanded to two lanes in each direction. Further on, the road narrows again a little, but is still well asphalted.
In Isola, the road then splits, heading north to Col de la Bonette and heading south to Roubion and on to Col de la Couiolle – and further on to Nice. This is also how the route is signposted.
