Col de la Confrérie | 1368 METER | Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne Villargondran
Opposite (southwest) the Col du Chaussy with its famous hairpin bends (Lacets de Montvernier) is the Col de la Confrérie. This Alpine pass has no fewer than 39 sharp bends over a distance of 10 kilometres. However, these are spread over the entire route and are not as concentrated as at the Col du Chaussy. Since it is also a little lower and has decent asphalt throughout, it is particularly popular with cyclists.
It is not entirely clear how to define the length of the route. The eastern ramp begins relatively clearly in the village of Villargondron. Shortly after the summit in the west, the village of Albiez-le-Jeune is already visible, with further villages following further down the valley. At the end of the equally twisty route, we find Saint-Jean-de Maurienne, which is why we have chosen it as the second reference point.
