Col de la Cayolle | 2326 METER | Barcelonnette Saint-Martin-d’Entraunes

The Col de la Cayolle is a mountain pass in the French Alps that connects the municipalities of Barcelonnette, in the Ubaye valley, with Saint-Martin-d'Entraunes. The pass summit is at 2326 metres. The Col de la Cayolle, like the parallel north-south connections Col d'Allos (west) and Col de la Bonette (east), is located in the Mercantour National Park. It is a beautiful and interesting alternative to the Col d'Allos – especially when the latter is closed due to avalanche danger.

On the north side, you drive through a long valley that sometimes has the character of a gorge before it gets more twisty uphill. The south side (see picture), on the other hand, is generally twistier and very diverse.
