Alpe d'Huez | 1850 METER | Le-Bourg-d'Oisans Alpe d'Huez

The Alpe d'Huez is a very well paved dead-end road, which is particularly popular with cyclists because it is often part of the Tour de France. However, admittedly, the ascent or descent can be described as spectacular, as it has 21 serpentine-like curves. The driveway divides shortly after the village of Huez. The western driveway is the more winding variant.

From Alpe d'Huez, there are two options for continuing, which is why the term ‘side road’ is not entirely accurate. Heading north, a short gravel road continues to Lac Besson. This is an area with several raised bog lakes – great for hiking or taking a break.

To the east – it is better to take the eastern driveway from the village of Huez – a partly gravel road branches off to the Col de Sarenne. This means that the road to Alpe d'Huez is not a side road.
