Road of the 360 bends – Chur to Arosa

The route from Chur up to Arosa is 30 kilometres long. It involves a climb of around 1,200 metres. However, the stretch through the Schanfigger Valley is legendary because it features 360 bends. Here, one bend follows another – sometimes tighter, sometimes steeper, sometimes more sweeping. If you have a bit of fun and convert the 30 kilometres into bends, that works out at one bend every 80 metres. Or to put it another way: there isn’t a single straight stretch.
The route also offers fantastic views and plenty of attractions. For example, you can admire the Rhaetian Railway viaduct spanning the gorge, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The first bend begins just above Chur. And it also offers a fantastic view over the rooftops of Switzerland’s oldest city.
