The Col du Granon is located in the Western Alps, slightly north of Briançon, in Serre Chevalier. The ascent via the western ramp is accessed from the country road at Saint-Chaffrey, which connects Briançon with the Alpine passes Col du Lautaret and Col du Galibier. As a result, the Col du Granon is often overlooked.

But it is well worth a visit. The ramp is somewhat winding but not very steep. In the upper section, there are no barriers on the mountain side or the valley side.
