Nauders | Thusis: A winding road marathon through Graubünden.
A 230-kilometre tour full of twists and turns and exciting experiences, with a taste of fine cheese.
This tour offers a highly varied ride and is an incredibly thrilling experience. This dream Alpine route links the historic canton of Graubünden with the border triangle and is an absolute must for any fan of winding roads! Over a distance of just under 229 kilometres, you’ll ride your bike through a spectacular marathon of mountain passes, climbing a staggering 3,844 metres in elevation.
The route connects two ideal strategic hubs: the historic market town of Thusis, the gateway to the monumental Viamala Gorge, and the idyllic, mountain-framed town of Nauders. In between, pure driving pleasure awaits you. You’ll conquer the Flüela Pass (2,383 m), a delight for motorcyclists, and the rugged, historic Albula Pass (2,312 m). You’ll traverse the sun-drenched Upper Engadine, glide past the glamorous jet-set atmosphere of St. Moritz and enjoy the sweeping bends of the Julier Pass (2,284 m). A magnificent mix of high-alpine wilderness and stylish stop-offs!
This recommendation for your tour is almost a “must”:
No matter which direction you’re coming from: as soon as you’re in the Upper Engadine / St. Moritz region, be sure to plan a detour towards the Bernina Pass. Your absolute highlight awaits in Morteratsch!
Park your bike and treat yourself to a break at the local Alm-Schau-Käserei. The beer garden is idyllically situated in a pine forest, framed by the mighty three-thousand-metre peaks of the Bernina massif. Whilst you enjoy fresh, locally produced cheese or a cool drink, the legendary Bernina Express passes by in the background. This break is highly recommended and the emotional heart of the route!
