Old St Gotthard Pass road heading south | Tremola

The entire descent of the St. Gotthard Pass to the south, known as the Tremola, is a highlight. One curve follows the next. In the background, the long tunnel or gallery of the new pass road. The old pass road is not very busy – certainly due to the fact that it is completely paved. However, as you would expect in Switzerland, the pavement is in very good condition and easy to drive on in dry weather. When the conditions are bad, the road is closed. There are barriers on both sides. The descent takes about 15 minutes. Halfway down, you will meet the new road again.

The descent is right at the top of the pass, below the lake – just follow the signs for the Pass Hospice. Take a look at this short video.
